Coaches
Terry Archenhold
Terry coaches the 88 Girls Challenge team within the club. As a youth player, he was named to the 1st team “All Metropolitan Team” in the Washington, DC area. Terry has a USSF “D” license and has led teams at Riverside High School to a number of SC state championships. He was named AAA coach of the year in 1997 and 2001 and region coach of the year in 2001-2003. Terry has coached a number of youth soccer teams to SC state championships including assistant coach of the SGU Steamers, who were Region III finalists in 1990. In addition, he coached the SGU Magic team that won SC state championships from 1994-1997.
Travis Archenhold
Travis coaches the 90 Boys Classic I team within the club. Holding a USSF "C" license, Travis also coaches the JL Mann boys varsity soccer team. He previously coached the Riverside JV team from 2000-03 and at GFC from 2002-03. Travis played on two club state champions with St Giles and was a Region III finalist in 1991. He played at Riverside High School and won four state championships from 1992-95. Travis was named All-Region in 1994-95. Additionally, he participated on the SC ODP team from 1990-95 and was named to the ODP Regional team in 1992.
Matt Brophy
Matt coaches the 89 Boys Classic I team within the club. A former collegiate and semi-professional player, Matt played at Christopher Newport College, then with the NVSL in Washington, DC and the US Navy. Matt holds an NSCAA National Diploma and has experience as a club and high school coach. He is the head coach of the boys’ varsity team at Mauldin High School and was named Region 1-AAAA boys coach of the year in 2002-2003. Matt was a player/coach with the US Navy team that won the South Atlantic regional championship in 1994 and has coached several teams that have won SC state championships.
Haven Bruce
Haven is coaching a 93 Girls pool team within the club. He played soccer professionally with Asociacion Deportiva in Costa Rica, the Wilmington Hammerheads, and the Greenville Lions. During his professional career, Haven was named PDL player of the week and coached at a number of youth camps. He played soccer in the Charlotte area at Independence High School where he was a first-team All-State player from 1995-97. He was on the NC ODP team from 1991-97. Haven coached the SGU Fire and the SC Classic Cup Champion SGU South Stars in 2003-2004.
Nick Finotti
Nick coaches the 90 Girls Challenge, 90 Boys Premier and 92 Boys Challenge teams within the club. Nick played collegiately at The Citadel and Methodist College, where his team was an NCAA Division III finalist in 1995. He played professionally for the Myrtle Beach Seadawgs, who were national finalists in the USL 3rd division. Nick has both a USSF "A" license and an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. He is head coach at Greenville High School and was previously the head coach at Northwestern High School from 2002-005, leading the team to a #1 National ranking. Nick has been named a high school coach of the year both in his region and by the NSCAA.
Andrew Fleming
Andrew coaches the 95 Girls Premier, 90 Girls Challenge and 89 Girls Challenge with the club. Andrew was a member of the Virginia Tech men's soccer team from 1990-1992 and holds a USSF "B" license. Andrew has over ten years of experience coaching at the club and high school levels. Andrew was a member of the SC ODP staff in 2006-2007.
Keith Fredricksen
Keith is the Director of Goalkeeping and coaches the 91 Boys Challenge, 91 Girls Premier, and 93 Boys pool teams within the club. Keith played soccer at High Point University from 1991-93 and Averett College from 1993-94. He was the coach of the girls varsity team at Greenville High School from 1999-2001 and has ten years experience coaching youth soccer. In addition, Keith was goalkeeper coach for the Carolina Dynamo and Greensboro Twisters, for both their youth soccer club and W-league team.
Andrew Hyslop
Andrew is the co-executive director of CESA as well as a coach in our club. Andrew is a native of Scotland but moved to South Carolina in time to play at various levels of youth play in the state. A graduate of the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg, Andrew was selected as an NSCAA All-American in 1990 and an NSCAA All-South member in 1989 and 1990. Andrew holds a USSF "B" license and has experience as a club and high school coach, tournament and camp director. Andrew played professional soccer with the Columbia Heat and the Carolina Shamrocks. He is also a member of the Region III boys ODP coaching staff. As the Director of Coaching for the former Greenville Futbol Club, Andrew coached the U18G team that won the Region III championship and placed third nationally in 2000, and he coached the U18G and U15B teams that were Region III finalists in 2004.
David Minihan
Ralston Moore
Ralston coaches the 89 Girls Premier and 93 Girls pool teams within the club. He played for the Jamaica National Team and at Clemson University. Ralston holds a USSF “A” license. He has coached three boys’ teams to SC state championships, with one Region III finalist, and thirteen girls’ teams to SC state championships, with two Region III semi-finalists.
Carlos Osorio
Carlos coaches the 88 Boys Challenge and 90 Girls Premier teams within the club. With experience coaching at the college, high school, and club levels, Carlos has a USSF “B” license. He is the current head coach of varsity boys’ soccer at Dorman High School, and was named SC coach of the year in 1998. Carlos is a member of the SC ODP coaching staff. He coached the SGU Santos to three SC state championships from 2001-2003.
Keith Parkinson
Keith coaches the 87, 91, and 93 Boys Premier teams within the club. Keith played college soccer at FIU, Clemson, and USCS, and was named the NAIA Region VI player of the year. He played professionally for Manchester City FC, Sligo Rovers of Ireland, Raleigh Flyers, Charleston Battery, and SC Shamrocks. Keith has a USSF “B” license and has experience coaching at the professional, collegiate, and youth levels. He has level several teams to SC state championships.
Jim Rinker
Jim coaches the 89 Boys Challenge, 92 Girls Premier and 94 Girls Pool teams within the club. He played for Greensboro College and was a professional player with the Greensboro Dynamos when they won the 1994 National Championship. Jim has an NSCAA Advanced Diploma and has experience coaching at the college and youth levels. He is an SC ODP staff coach, and was the assistant coach for the GFC U18G Region III champions in 2000.
Russell Shelley
Russell coaches the 89 Boys Premier, 90 Boys Challenge and 94 Boys Pool teams within the club. A graduate of Lander University, Russ is a USSF licensed coach. He has experience coaching at the club and high school levels and was formerly the Director of the Sumter Soccer club and head coach of the men’s varsity team at Sumter High School. Russ was the coach of the GFC U18 Boys 2002 SC state championship team.
Pearse Tormey
Pearse is the co-executive director of CESA as well as a coach in our club. As a native of Ireland, Pearse represented his country at all levels of youth play. A graduate of Clemson University, Pearse was a member of the 1987 Clemson National Championship Team and finished his college career with over 40 goals and 40 assists. While playing for the Tigers, he was twice named All-American and was named to the All-ACC Team in 1988-1990. Pearse holds USSF "A" and National Youth licenses and has experience as a club and high school coach, tournament and camp director. Pearse was a staff coach for the Adidas ESP Camp from 2003-2006. He played professional soccer with the Charleston Battery, Carolina Shamrocks and Greenville Lions. Pearse is also a member of the South Carolina ODP coaching staff.
Mike Thompson
Mike coaches the 93 Girls Challege II, 93 Girls Classic, and U10 Academy Boys Pool II. Mike grew up playing soccer in Fayetteville, NC, and later graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he ran cross country and track. Mike went on to coach for four years for Greensboro Youth Soccer and played for a number of club and amateur teams in the area. Mike has experience coaching at the youth and high school level and holds a NSCAA National Diploma and a NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma.
