Furman University Soccer Players Ali Simpson and India Robinson Honored by the Southern Conference
CESA 92 Premier Team player Ali Simpson has been selected to the 2011 All- SoCon first team as well as the All-Freshman team. Simpson, in her first year at Furman University has scored 5 goals ( 3 Game Winners) while helping to anchor the Furman back four. Ali has had a dramatic impact on the Furman season with some spectacular goals including a double overtime game winner as Furman defeated Clemson earlier this season.
CESA 93 Premier Team player India Robinson has also been recognized by the leagues coaches and has been named to the 2011 SoCon All- Freshman team. Robinson has scored 1 goal and contributed a team leading 7 assists while playing as both a central midfielder and forward for the Paladins.
CESA 92 Premier Team player Alyssa Althoff has also been a mainstay for Furman and after an early season injury has rebounded to start in 18 of 18 games. Althoff has scored 1 goal and has 3 assists. She has been a solid performer for the Paladins at left back.
Furman has reached the semi-final round of the Southern Conference Tournament in Greensboro, NC and will play Samford University on Friday, November 4. A Friday victory will propel Furman into the Southern Conference Final and a chane to claim the automatic NCAA Division 1 tournament bid for the conference.
